Thought for the Day
The issue is always the same: the government or the market. There is no third solution.

Juddering
This article gives us a summary of the British economy and Gordon Brown's part in it. They might just as well be talking about New Zealand and Michael Cullen.
Maggie Thatcher made the break for Britian and her common sense approach to economics ushered in the boom of the nineties. Just like Roger Douglass did for David Lange.
The British chancellor has been riding the wave of good times generated by "Economic Real Think" but now things are starting to wind down. Just as they are in New Zealand.
Helen Clark and Michael Cullen have done nothing to promote growth in the economy. Increasing taxes and building a bigger public sector have only reduced incentives to growth and the chickens are now coming home to roost.
How good will life be under the roosting chickens?

Why the Greens’ Charm Offensive Failed
Well, if you wanted the inside story of the "Greens Discussions with Business" recently here it is in Roger's own words.
The Greens would be a disaster for the New Zealand economy if they managed to get their policies implemented.
I notice that Roger has also picked up on my point about Greens and DDT.
Isn't it time we asked them to apologise for causing millions of deaths in Africa?
Virides delendi sunt.
