The Definition and Defense of Freedom
The definition of freedom is not complicated. Freedom means that which the government does not control. You are free when the government cannot steal your income, when it cannot tell you what to say or with whom you may or may not associate. You are free when the government cannot take your kids and send them to far-flung wars to kill and be killed. You are free when you control your life, your property, your church, your business, and your future. You are free when the government cannot inflate away your savings, tax away your profits, lay waste to your dividends by regimenting corporate life, or controlling how much of what you buy and sell and from where.
Without freedom we have nothing. First freedom then economic growth. Read well and consider. Only constant vigilance keeps the government at bay.

Letter to the Editor
The Editor,
Dear Sir,
I see that our local leaders are again haggling about building Transmission Gully. It now seems that the costs would be about the same (although these are usually obfuscated by politicians and reporters) which makes comparisons difficult.
However, if we go ahead and build Transmission Gully we will then have two first class roads heading north whereas upgrading the coast road still just leaves us with one access route. Two for the price of one! Why are we still arguing?
Our politicians have a duty to get our Economic Growth Rate up to 5% and keep it there. To do this they must ensure we have first class infrastructure and this means much improved roads. We must vote for the party that seriously will make a difference to the roading needs of Wellington.
