Thought for the Day
The Economist was first published in 1843 to take part in; "a severe contest between intelligence, which presses forward, and an unworthy, timid ignorance obstructing our progress."

This might well be our motto.

Tar Babies
One of the things that the Greens keep pounding into the public arena is that we are "using up our resources and there are going to be none left". Of course this is nonsense. Our resources expand as fast as our intellect is capable of conceiving the need for them. The Greens keep saying that we are running out of oil. The funny thing is that we keep finding more reserves as they become needed. As demand rises and prices rise so solutions are found. We are already looking at alternative fuels such as the fuel cell which will take over when oil runs down - maybe in a 1000 years! Here is an article for investors about the latest information regarding the Canadian Oil Sands. These are now being developed and will add 180 billion barrels to known reserves. This puts Canada right behind Saudi Arabia in size of oil reserves!

Will the Greens please stop bleating nonsense and calamity and grow up? Stop wasting time and our money in fruitless political flim-flamery like fart taxes and get some useful job!
