Thought for the Day
"Of the vast increase in the well-being of hundreds of millions of people that has occurred in the 200-year course of the industrial revolution to date, virtually none of it can be attributed to the direct redistribution of resources from rich to poor. The potential for improving the lives of poor people by finding different ways of distributing current production is nothing compared to the apparently limitless potential of increasing production."
Robert Lucas (Nobel Laureate in Economics)

You can't be too careful, can you?
Out here in sunny New Zealand our Labour government is making major changes with our health system. They are now spending $3,500,000,000 more each year than in 2000 and we still have waiting lists 180,000 long and a waiting list to get on the official waiting list. Over 1000 people have died while waiting on the official list. No data is available on how many died on the waiting list for the waiting list. All this extra money from you and me and NO CHANGE!
The money must be going into the bureaucracy somewhere. Here is a "tongue-in-cheek" article derived from the recent experience of a British doctor trying to set up in private practice.
Wasn't it Helen who said "Where Tony goes, so go I"?
