The Myth of "Peak Oil"
This is a very informative article written by Charles Featherstone who is a journalist specializing in energy. Just as coal superceded wood as a fuel and oil (and gas) superceded coal for industry and heating so we will see new product(s) supercede oil in the decades ahead. This article contains much information about the current workings of the oil industry and many insights into how it might change and develop. There is no doomsday scenario. The Greens have given up on prophesying the end of oil because every time they say it will run out in 30 years the oil companies keep on finding more "reserves" and lo and behold these reserves are for about 30 years. This is the natural time horizon for exploration and development that the oil industry has settled down to. So now we have Jeanette making headlines with "Peak Oil". Relax and enjoy your summer. There is no crisis.
