Mises: Defender of Freedom

In my search for the origins and means of economic growth I have traversed a wide range of ideas and propositions. When following economic threads the best ideas and concepts all point in the direction of the Austrian School of Thought.

Fundamental to the teachings of the school are the writings of Ludwig von Mises. This tribute to his work will help us all to think about very basic concepts of economics and how our life has come to be as good as it is because of the fundamental workings of capitalism and how those workings were severely threatened by socialism last century and perhaps we can see how those socialistic forces of destruction are still alive and well today under many new guises.

It is time to come to a clear understanding of the impediments to economic growth and we can make no better start than to understand the basic teachings of Ludwig von Mises.

This man had all the answers (well nearly) many decades ago and I am sure you will find his thoughts interesting. This tribute by Professor George Reisman gives us a clear description and an easy introduction.

Socialist Man in the Big Easy

Socialism just appears to work because the capitalist community became so wealthy it could afford to give help for free. The danger we are in is that some people think that it was socialism that produced the wealth and they want to take us back down that path again.

Fortunately some students are starting to see the truth. . .
