New Century Politics
What is "Politics for the New Century"

One of the problems with politics at the moment is that we are limiting our thinking by viewing the political world as consisting of people on the left and people on the right. The ones on the left refer to the ones on the right as "far right" as a term of abuse and the ones on the right refer to the ones on the left as "far left" as a term of abuse.

Politics for the New Century seeks to demolish these old shibboleths and provide renewed energy for creating a wealthy and happy New Zealand that is up at the top end of the wealthy lists instead of dropping out at around number 40 as we are at the moment.

New Century Politics
Our way forward for New Zealand

Convince all politicians that they should concentrate on increasing our wealth. Not by growing government but by shrinking government and encouraging entrepreneurs and business people to grow their own enterprise. When the people are wealthy the nation is wealthy.

Politicians cannot manage an economy into health. They can only set conditions under which the people thrive and grow wealthy by their own efforts. Governments can only tax people and distribute a portion of that wealth. Thus governments destroy wealth. Most of our governments have been reducing our wealth for the last 60 years. We only think we are getting wealthier because the paper money system adds 10% more paper each year and we feel wealthier but we are not.

Politicians have only three tasks:

1. Guard our borders,
2. Ensure peace in the land, and
3. Provide prosperity for the people.

The first is mostly achieved by geography and the second was achieved 120 years ago.

Click the heading to read a discussion about the third requirement.

New Century Politics
Left Versus Right

One of the things I have found hard to understand over the years is the divide between the politics of the left and the right. What is the difference, exactly?
